Having Children At Your Reception?

Kid-Friendly Menu Options: Often times, kids don't like the filet mignon and shrimp the same way adults do.  Why not work with the venue to see if the chef can provide a kid-friendly dinner option?

Set Up A Separate Area/ Tables: Setting up a separate area for the children will keep them happy and occupied.  It is important to designate chaperones that will be able to watch the kiddies while their parents enjoy the night.

Suggested Activities:
1. Coloring pages and crayons
2. legos
3. Rent PC's and have games

Give Them Responsibility: Yeah, it can work.  Give them a job that they are specifically responsible for and watch them go to work.  You can make this as fun as possible.  Maybe give them a disposable camera and have them be the photographer for the night. How much fun would that be?!

Off-Site Nanny Service:  There are new agencies out there that you can hire to offer child care services for guests.

Mini-Sized Candy Table: Provide tables the height of the kids.

Candy Toss: Similar to a bouquet and garter toss, how much fun!

Sticking to the Theme

I saw these cupcakes at an event that I went to.  It got my wheels spinning; this is a great way to keep the theme going with a bridal bouquet and centerpieces.

Creative Gifts

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day.  I want to share with you something I did for my hubby this year. This idea I think you can adapt for any holiday and you can make it kid-friendly.

(Person's Name) 's Top Ten List

  1. Get 10 gift bags; choose a color to fit your color scheme.
  2. Determine how many bags you want you want to fill with gifts (the remaining bags will only be filled with tissue paper.
  3. Come up with the top 10 things you love about that person. (If you have a gift, try to be creative with the wording and the type of gift.)
  4. Line the bags up in order from 1 to 10.
  5. Create a card for each bag - I used heart because it was V-Day - and right one thing on the back of each.
  6. The person must read the card first and then look to see if there is a gift in the bag.

Some of the gifts I did:
My hubby loves peppermints, so in bag #3, I put peppermint and my card said, "You put a pep in my step every time I see you."

In another bag, I had cologne and the card said, "I love your smell."

This can be adapted for parents, teachers, family members, you name it.

Have fun with it, I surely did.

Personalized Aisles

The traditional white aisle runner is still around however, many brides are opting for something a little more customized.  Something that would not only fit their special day, but their personality as well.  Earlier this season I shared with you an aisle that I have done in the past.  Here is another that I have done more recently.  If a custom aisle is at the top of your budget, you can purchase one from Michael's or another craft store and decorate it and roll it back up for your special day.

Enjoy!
